Health Checks
New Patients
We offer all new patients an initial health check to enable us to obtain details of past medical problems and to provide better care.
Patients Over 75 Years will all be given a named GP
If you have not had a consultation, for any reason, for over 12 months you can request one. If, in the doctor’s opinion, you cannot attend the surgery on medical grounds a visit would be made to your home. Patients over 75 years will all be given a named GP.
Patients Not Seen For Three Years
Any patient over the age of 16 but under the age of 75 years who has not attended the surgery for any reason in the last three years can request a consultation.

Vaccinations
Flu And Pneumococcal Pneumonia
In the Autumn, we vaccinate patients at risk, ie those over 65, diabetics and those with chronic heart, chest and kidney problems. Whereas a flu jab is required each year, a pneumococcal pneumonia vaccination is only required once for most patients.
Tetanus
We offer vaccination against tetanus. After an initial course of three injections, only a further two boosters are necessary in a lifetime, for most patients.
Travel
The nurses give up-to-date advice about all travel vaccinations. A fee is payable for some injections and you will be advised of this prior to the injection being given. We are a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.
Please call the surgery and ask for a telephone appointment with the nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. They will be happy to advise on what vaccinations are necessary.
Chronic Disease Clinics
Patients with asthma, COPD (chronic bronchitis and emphysema), IHD (heart disease), diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease are invited for regular checks to assess levels of symptoms and to optimise treatment.
Other Services At The Marshes
A physiotherapist visits the practice each week. All referrals are made through the doctors.
Stop Smoking Clinics
Courses are available at several locations locally but are also held here at the surgery for our East Riding Residents. Patients can refer themselves. East Riding Residents: 0800 9177752; North Yorkshire Residents: 0800 2465125.
Non-NHS Services
We are happy to undertake medical examinations and reports for insurance companies, employers and solicitors. As these services are not covered by the NHS you will be informed of the appropriate fee at the time of request. A deposit of £50 is required when the appointment for the medical is confirmed. In the event of cancellation this is refundable, provided 24 hours' notice has been given.
Self-Help
If you would like to know more about self-treatment of common conditions, NHS Choices can help. A useful self-help guide is available on their website, www.nhs.uk or a booklet entitled Not Feeling Well is available from pharmacies.
